We were appointed by Verus Construction LTD to carry out the tarmac and resin surfacing element of a larger project in Leeds, West Yorkshire, working on behalf of their end client.
With a sizeable area to complete and a requirement for a clean, seamless finish, the job needed careful coordination, the right base preparation, and a larger team than a typical domestic installation.
Because the surface area was much larger than a typical domestic property, coming in at 320m², we planned the installation around maintaining a continuous workflow so the resin could be laid seamlessly without stop-start joins. To achieve this, we increased manpower and organised the site layout and material supply so that mixing, moving and laying could happen at pace.
Before the resin was installed, 40 tonnes of 20mm base coat tarmac was laid as the underlying surface. This step provided a strong, even platform for the resin bound layer and ensured the finished surface would sit smoothly across the full footprint.
To keep the resin consistent across such a large area, we ran two mixers simultaneously. This helped maintain steady output, which is crucial on bigger installations, as resin needs to be mixed and laid continuously so the team can maintain a consistent texture and avoid visible joins.
A 10-person team worked together in a coordinated line, mixing, transporting and laying the resin bound material to maintain continuity and control. With the right resourcing and workflow in place, the resin installation was completed in 6 hours, meeting the practical demands of a large commercial-style pour whilst keeping the finish consistent.
