Set in private grounds with mature gardens, this Victorian property in the Savile Park area of Halifax underwent major building and renovation works over the course of three years.
As part of the project, the homeowners wanted the driveway to reflect the improved appearance of the house and gardens.
Having assessed their needs, it was noted that wagons, skips and other heavy vehicles needed to access the property throughout the build, so we agreed a two-phase resin installation with the client that kept new surfaces away from construction traffic until all major works were complete.

We were first contacted in 2022, when the homeowner was at the start of major renovation works. The existing driveway was already tired, but with builders’ vehicles, wagons and skips due to use the drive heavily, it was not sensible to resurface everything in one go.
Instead, we agreed a phased approach:
We opted for this split approach as, although resin surfaces are durable and long lasting under normal domestic traffic, repeated use by heavily loaded construction vehicles and skips can damage even a well-installed surface. Phasing the work allowed the customer to fully utilise areas not used by site traffic without having it marked or deformed during the work.
In Phase 1, we focused on approximately 230 m² of driveway and hardstanding that sat away from the main access route used by construction vehicles.
We prepared and resurfaced these areas in light grey resin, tying into the existing layout of the grounds. Care was taken to ensure levels, falls and edges worked with the long-term plan for the rest of the driveway.
This allowed the customer to benefit from a cleaner, finished arrival area in parts of the grounds, even while renovation works were ongoing elsewhere.
Throughout the building works, the main driveway was used heavily by wagons, skips and other site traffic. As planned, we left this section untouched until the structural works were complete and ground conditions had settled after prolonged use.
Waiting until the end of construction reduced the risk of rutting, oil staining and structural disturbance to the new resin surface.
In September 2025, once the renovation work had finished, we returned to complete Phase 2, covering around 350 m², including the long main driveway that had been exposed to heavy construction traffic.
Preparation of existing base: The main driveway was inspected and prepared, addressing any areas affected by the prolonged use of heavy vehicles.

Drainage: During the planning stage, we identified sections where the lay of the land caused water to pool. To resolve this, our team installed drains to capture surface water and direct water away from the driveway surface to appropriate discharge points. This improves day-to-day usability, reduces the risk of puddles and helps protect the resin surface from standing water, particularly in heavier rain.

Grey Stone Block Edging: Stone blocks were installed at key points to provide a solid physical restraint to the resin surface, helping to maintain thickness and protect edges. The grey tone used links naturally with both the light grey resin and nearby features, giving a high-quality finish to the drive.

Resurfacing: We then applied the same light grey resin finish to match the earlier phase, creating a continuous, unified look across the whole approach.
